Two new truth cards

I have been loving making these little 4x6 truth cards. They don't take up much time and they are allowing me to create and remind myself little message that I need.

The first is this one that I started a few weeks ago at our local Art Hive's Crafty Girls night.

There was lots of layers on this one with scraps, die cuts and paint. I used some rub ons, sequins and some stamps as well. Do like how it turned out :)

The next one I finished tonight. It's been a quote that I have been struggling with for a week now. I have been regretting some choices. But I know that I should never regret. That the good choices - are wonderful and the bad ones are experiences!

This one was fun as I did use some lace for the tights, layered up the green grass, and used some clear embossing ink. Not that you can really see it in this picture.

Newest Truth Card

Hello,

I have been struggling with some personal doubts recently and thought this would help me work through them. I am in the mist of something new and my gremlins have been making me doubt things. I have been trying really hard to follow my heart and of course to listen to my head but to take into consideration that sometimes, my gremlins high-jack it and fill it full of doubts. I know that I need to sit back, not think, not wonder, not imagine and not obsess. I need to know that everything will work out for the best. My doubts also tell me that I can't trust this new venture in my life. But I know I need to let it go. Let go of my doubts and trust my heart.

Thank you for stopping by.

Lamp DIY

Hello,

So this was NOT my favourite DIY. Not at all!  If you asked someone who knew me they would tell you two things about me. 1. I am NOT patient and 2. I am a perfectionist. This was a challenging project.

First the lamp. I had purchased this lamp over a year ago for $5 and have wanted to do this project forever! So because it was in storage for a long time it needed a cleaning. I used a really good cleaner to get all the grim off. Well I must of missed some. I didn't prime (lesson #1 on this project) so the spray paint didn't adhere to the whole surface. Lots of spots.

The second irritating part was the shade. I was lucky. Bought it at home depot and it had a price tag of $17.99 but because it had a little mark on the shade the sales girl took $5 off. I was pretty happy about that! So I looked on pinterest for some tutorials on how to mask the chevron lines. Well I tried four times before I got them to be lined up and almost the same size. (this was a challenge for me as I like to have things equal).

Then I painted. It's not perfect. Grr.... Oh well. It's done!  Overall I like it. Just wishing I used a different colour than the grey but do love the grey and aqua together.

Have a great day!! It is finally looking like spring here!

My newest truth card

Hello,

So I would like to share my newest truth card with you. What is a truth card? Well it's a little (4x6) reminder to myself that I put into an album. I have made a few now and this is a great way for me to create when I don't have a lot of time.

These boots were my mom's. She purchased them a few months before she passed. They remind me of her and I wear them every day. I was having a hard time the other day with some personal struggles and I came across this quote - Every path has it's puddles. And so there it is.... a truth card to remind myself that even though I am on this new journey I am going to hit some moments that challenge me. So instead of dwelling on it I thought to myself - just put on moms boots and jump in and enjoy the puddle and then keep on trucking!

I did take my inspiration from Curly Girl Designs.

Have a great night!

Trust Your Journey

I had bought this yard sale painting in hopes to paint the frame and sand down the painting to make a chalkboard. Then in January I started the Brave Girls Club 'The Walk' online course and knew exactly what I had to do with this painting. The path reminded me so much of my journey and this inspiration from Coming home to Roost was exactly what I needed to complete this project.

A little paint and voila! I did paint the frame with some watered down white paint to freshen it up a bit. I was going to try to fix the frame as some of the corners were missing but I thought that it represented my journey. Not perfect. But still beautiful.

Here is the before:

Santa's Magic Key

As part of my walk down the isles at Michael's I came across these beautiful keys. They were only $1.75 each so I picked up a bunch of white, brown and black ones. I wasn't sure what I was going to do until the other day. Santa's Magic Keys. I designed the tags and found the little poem. I have so much ribbon in my stash so I just used what I had. Attached the key to the tag and that is it. My son is so excited as we don't have a chimney.

Easy Burlap Gift Card Holders

I love the discount bins at Michael's. I always love the coordinating items they have. But these little burlap bags caught my eye. There were two in a pack for $1.50! I just grabbed my sharpie pen, drew some words (joy and noel) and that was it! So cute.
